Abdominoplasty, otherwise known as a ‘Tummy Tuck’, is a procedure that helps to remove unwanted skin and fat from the abdominal area in both men and women. Abdominoplasty works to flatten your abdomen and waist by the removal of this excess skin and fat. Abdominoplasty is not liposuction, although your doctor may recommend Liposuction in addition to this procedure.
The Procedure:
The complexity of your abdominoplasty procedure will depend on your desired results and the recommendation of your surgeon. It can be performed as both and in or out-patient procedure. It will be performed under general anesthesia.
Recovery:*
After your surgery, you will be prescribed pain relieving medications to help deal with the soreness you will experience. Redness, bruising, and swelling are common and should subside within three weeks of your surgery. The recovery time for abdominoplasty will be at least two weeks and possibly more depending on the physical nature of your work or lifestyle. Full results should be seen within six months.
