A mons lift is a procedure that involves lifting and tightening the mons pubis area (the mound above the pubic bone) to reduce the appearance of an enlarged pubic mound. A mons reduction is a procedure targeted to reducing the overall size of a mons pubis. This can be done as a result of liposuction or abdominoplasty, depending on the overall area and desired results.
The Procedure:
Typically, if the overly-large mons pubis is due to excess fatty tissue, liposuction is the ideal procedure. If the size of the patient’s mons pubis is due to both excessive skin and fatty tissue as a result of pregnancy, weight loss, or weight gain, a surgical procedure will be the best course of action. Dr. Eagan will work with you to determine the procedure that is best for your body and needs.
A mons reduction procedure lasts around an hour and is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.
The Recovery:*
A mons reduction procedure performed via liposuction will have a recovery time of about two to three days. If your procedure requires surgery, recovery time may be extended to about one week before you may resume your daily activities or work.
