ThermiVa is a brand new device in the family of ThermiRF devices. Using targeted radiofrequency energy, ThermiVa gently heats up the skin and tissue of the target area. The collagen in the tissue reacts by shrinking, causing a natural tightening. At the same time, the heat causes the body to produce new collagen, increasing the effects of the procedure.

Education and History

After graduating from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, she went on to complete a residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. During her Ophthalmology residency, Dr. Chiang studied and treated thousands of patients with general ophthalmological problems such as dry eyes, glaucoma, and cataracts.

Following residency, she was chosen for the Mt. Sinai Vitreo-retinal Surgical Fellowship. The fellowship enabled her to focus in greater depth on diseases and surgery for the retina, macula, and vitreous. Dr. Chiang’s experience and interest lies with patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration.

Today Dr. Chiang sees patients for general ophthalmological problems as well as more specialized problems of the retina, macula, and vitreous. She diagnoses as well as treats glaucoma, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, diabetes, and hypertensive retinopathy such as vein occlusions, among many other medical eye disorders.  She performs blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), cataract surgery, and YAG surgeries. She prides herself as a “hands-on doctor” and is always available to answer any questions her patients might have.

In 2011, Dr. Lacombe and Dr. Chiang began planning Artemedica, a center of medical excellence that includes Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Aesthetician Services and a Designer Boutique Optical Store. Artemedica opened in mid-2011 and we have a team of talented professionals that have been assembled in one location to provide an unparalleled experience in northern California.

Outside of the practice, Dr. Chiang enjoys spending time with her two children, Victoria and Max, and husband, Victor Lacombe, M.D., doing things such as skiing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, traveling, gardening and reading books.

What sets us apart from the competition?

My staff and I pride ourselves on actively keeping current with the most current, cutting-edge, highest-quality products, whether in frames or lenses. We offer superior customer service and educate our patients on the difference nuances in these product tiers and then tailor our patients’ individualized purchases to their particular lifestyles and budgets. Our patients are able to be confident that we examine and approve of every line we carry in frames and lenses for their particular style, quality, durability, and optical clarity.

For example, there are different tiers of the same type of lens. For a single vision polycarbonate lens, there is a stock type generic lens and then there are specific, higher quality lenses like ZEISS. These lenses are found in professional cameras with the ultimate optical clarity. We can offer you either type of lens but one will cost more than the other. We will explain the difference you will experience between the two qualities of lens and then help you make a decision on which fits into your lifestyle of use and budget.
