What is BOTOX Cosmetic?
Unlike other injections, BOTOX is not a dermal filler. It does not eliminate wrinkles and fine lines by filling in the underlying tissue. Instead, BOTOX uses an FDA approved drug called onobotulinumtoxinA to temporarily prevent targeted muscles from moving. More specifically, these injections block certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract.
Is BOTOX safe?
Absolutely! BOTOX was approved by the FDA back in 2002, and since then it has been used in 98 different countries and has become the #1 selling product of its kind.
How does BOTOX work?
BOTOX prevents targeted, overactive muscles from moving which is the underlying cause of moderate to severe wrinkles. More specifically, these injections block certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. As a result, wrinkles diminish because the muscles causing them to appear are no longer contracting.
How long will my results last?
Most patients begin seeing results within 1 to 2 days, but your results won’t be final until roughly 30 days after your treatment. In most cases, BOTOX lasts up to 4 months, although some patients have had results last up to 6 months. Most patients choose to schedule their follow up appointments around the 4 month mark in order to sustain their best results.
Do I need to wait until I’m 40 years old to get BOTOX?
It’s actually a pretty common misconception that only old women get BOTOX. In fact, BOTOX is FDA-approved for both women and men over the age of 18 years old. Wrinkles can happen at any age, and you shouldn’t have to wait until a pre-determined time to address your cosmetic concerns.
Will BOTOX make me look overdone? Will it be obvious I’ve had a cosmetic procedure?
