Natural Hair Restoration with Your Body’s Own Cell-Regenerating Power

Hair loss and thinning are common problems for both men and women across the country. Approximately 80 million Americans of all ages suffer from male- or female-pattern baldness and this condition becomes increasingly more prevalent after age 50. As of right now, there are many options for treating hair loss including cosmetics like hair fillers, transplants, wigs and toupees, and medication. However, one such treatment is becoming increasing popular due to its scientific backing: plasma-rich platelet (PRP) hair restoration injections.

PRP hair restoration uses the natural healing and regenerative properties of your own body to stimulate new hair growth. PRP injections have long been used in the sports medicine industry to treat joint, ligament and musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Recently, however, PRP injections have been found highly effective in hair restoration.

How does PRP help hair restoration?

There are two key components to platelet-rich plasma and they are both 100% natural and come from your own body:

Plasma: the liquid part of your blood;

Platelet: a type of blood cell vital to your body’s healing process and full of growth properties.

PRP is your own blood with a higher concentration of your own growth promoting platelets. By injecting a small sample of platelet-rich plasma into your scalp, you increase the supply of nutrient-rich blood directly to the hair follicle and increase the thickness of the hair shaft. And because PRP hair restoration uses your body’s own natural healing and regenerative properties, they are perfect for both men and women with thinning hair or mild to moderate pattern baldness.

It addresses:

  • Hair thinning
  • Hair loss
  • Female- and male-pattern baldness

On the day of your appointment, one of our trained clinicians will draw a small amount of your blood—typically from your arm. This blood is then spun in a centrifuge for approximately 10 minutes in order to separate out the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of your blood. Your specific PRP sample is then injected into the scalp after numbing with a local anesthetic. Treatment generally takes less than an hour. Amazing results are noticeable after just a few of these non-invasive treatments, providing a welcome boost in confidence.

Recovery after your PRP treatment

PRP hair restoration requires no downtime, similar to having your blood drawn at the hospital. You may feel some discomfort around the injection site once the local anesthetic wears off. However, this should resolve itself within a few hours. Refrain from washing the treated areas for 48 hours to give it time to heal and be gentle when shampooing.

Due to the nature of PRP treatments, which relies on natural healing and regeneration, results are not immediate. However, most patients report thicker hair and less shedding even after just their first treatment. In some cases, new hair growth appears in the treated areas. While results will vary, in order to get the best results from your PRP hair restoration therapy, you should seek a minimum of 3 treatments spaced out 4-6 weeks. Some patients require additional maintenance treatments every 4-6 months post-initial treatment.

Roderic Wallace Trusts Dr. Victor Lacombe

“Probably one of Dr. Lacombe’s greatest assets is his intuitive understanding of what it takes to create a very natural yet aesthetically pleasing result. In my case, a brow lift opened up my eyes, a subtle lift to the tip of my drooping nose dealt with the negative effects of gravity, a small chin implant balanced a newly sculpted neck and stronger jaw line… yes, a number of procedures done at one time, but oh so worth it in the long run. I can enthusiastically endorse Victor as one of the finest plastic surgeons around.*”
