Facial implants are used to augment the appearance of your facial contours, improving your appearance. Facial implants can be used to improve the appearance of your chin, which Dr. Lacombe specializes in.
Candidates for Chin Implants
You may be a candidate if you would like to:
- Improve your jawline by strengthening the appearance of a receding chin
- Enhance definition and restore contours
- Correct or improve the appearance of facial asymmetry
The Procedure
For chin implants, both general and local anesthesia is used. Dr. Lacombe will work with you to determine exactly what features you would like to improve and the results you are looking to have. A small incision is made near where the implant will be situated. After facial tissue is moved to accommodate the implant, the implant will be inserted through this small incision. The incision is then sewn shut.
The Recovery and Results
As with all surgeries, your body will need some time to recover from the facial implant surgery. You will receive detailed information about what to do during the recovery time, including info on possible side effects and potential signs of complication. Always keep in touch with us if you have concerns about side effects or complications you may be experiencing.
You may be able to walk around by yourself on the first day, but normal activities will be restricted. Patients usually experience bruising and swelling accompanied by mild to moderate discomfort for a few days following the surgery. After about a week, most patients can return to their normal work schedules. After about a month, many patients can return to strenuous activities.
You will be able to see the results of your chin implant immediately. Scars may be visible around the implant site. The level of results and the time for recovery will vary greatly from individual to individual, as there are many factors that influence these things.
