Noticeable signs of aging are often visible in the forehead and eyebrow region. Looseness in these areas may cause drooping eyebrows, eyelid hooding, forehead furrows, and frown lines. In addition to the visible signs of aging, these effects can make a person appear angry, sad or tired. These aging effects lead many to seek a more pleasant appearance. They want to smooth their forehead, raise their eyebrows, and improve the appearance of any frown lines. Therefore, many clients seek a brow lift to noticeably improve the appearance and youthfulness of their face with little downtime.
What Is A Brow Lift?
A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure that minimizes the visual effects of aging and results in a more alert and refreshed look. Also known as a forehead lift, this facial plastic surgery reduces wrinkles, improves frown lines, and raises sagging eyebrows into a more youthful position. This treatment is most commonly performed on individuals between the ages of 40 and 60. However, it can also help individuals of any age who have developed furrows or frown lines due to stress, premature aging, or inherited conditions.
Dr. Lacombe in Santa Rosa individualizes each brow lift procedure to each patient’s unique goals. He works with you to determine which brow lift techniques best meet your needs and surgical goals.
Recent advances in brow lift surgery make it possible to perform the procedure using an endoscope (a tiny camera with a light attached). This allows Dr. Lacombe to use much smaller, refined incisions hidden in the hairline. Some patients who have short hair choose to let their hair grow longer before surgery. That way, the hair is long enough to hide the incisions while they heal. For patients who are bald or have a receding hairline, Dr. Lacombe simply moves the incision site to a more suitable location.
Immediately after surgery you can expect to be up and about in a day or two after surgery. However, you should plan to take it easy for about a week. Most can return to work or school within a week or less. Again though, we recommend you avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks. You will be able to shower and shampoo your hair as soon as the bandage is removed. This occurs usually within a day or two of the procedure.
You Have Options
Your surgeon can perform a brow lift alone or in conjunction with other facial plastic surgery procedures. Complementary procedures include face lifts, neck lifts, and/or eyelid lift. Sometimes, patients who feel they need upper eyelid surgery find that a brow lift better meets their surgical goals. Additionally, some patients choose to maintain or complement their cosmetic surgery with non-surgical wrinkle reduction with BOTOX® Cosmetic.
